Festival Frenzy – Outside Lands SF

Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival 2009 - Golden Gate Park, San Francisco

With the majority of the summer behind us, San Franciscans are looking towards the music festival that will take place next week in SF’s Golden Gate Park. Tickets for Outside Lands went on sale in May and sold out in under an hour! Music enthusiasts, like myself, waited anxiously to hear this year’s line-up. When it was revealed that mega-star Kanye West (“Yeezy”) would be a headliner at the festival, it was an indication that this year’s Outside Lands would be the biggest yet. Other major headliners that will be performing at 2014 Outside Lands include Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Killers, Tiesto, Arctic Monkeys, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Disclosure, and more! So, it’s time to get your wallets (and wardrobes!) ready for the best weekend in San Francisco this year. I have chosen my favorite past looks from Outside Lands for you to get inspired by these chic festival frocks.

Guest Blogger of the Week: Hayley Goldbaum

Hayley Goldbaum // Website // Blog

This week’s guest blogger is an LA native who moved to San Francisco three years ago to study Fashion Merchandising at Academy of Art University. She will graduate with her B.F.A. in Fall of 2015. Not only is she a go-getter at school, she also landed an internship this summer with leading San Francisco based magazine, 7×7. I talked to Hayley about her blog, internship, and plans post grad.

Congrats on your internship this summer! What is your official title at 7×7 Magazine?

Hayley: I work under the photo director as a Fashion Assistant/Photo Intern.

What about 7×7 Magazine interests you?

I like it because people trust our publication to have the most authority on San Francisco’s food, style, art, and culture. 7×7 brings the community together.

Take me through a normal day at the 7×7 office.

I get to the office at 10Am and usually leave around 6PM. We start the day by having a brief meeting and touching base on what we have all been working on. Then I will spend time looking up photos for the photo director, getting in touch with photographers, answering emails and assisting with the photo shoot prep work.

Where do your interests lie in the fashion industry? Styling?

Yes, I am very interested in fashion styling. This internship has taught me so much about editorial styling and photo shoot production. I had the opportunity to work with 7×7’s Fashion Editor, Lauren Goodman, on a photo shoot–I learned a lot from her.

How would you describe your personal style?

I would say Classic LA with an edge.

What has been your biggest struggle to maintain your website?

Even though I’ve been so busy with my internship and job at Stitch Fix, it is still important to have my website up and running so my most recent work is able to be viewed. Blogging is something that gets easier the more you post–you just have to make the time to do so.

What piece of advice would you give to people wanting to work/intern in fashion styling?

Because styling is so hands on, you have to be able to put in the hard work to deliver results.

Divine Denim

If you love Denim as much as I do, you know the importance of finding that perfect denim jacket, pair of skinnies, or overalls. I am obsessed with all the denim we have seen both on the runway and the streets this summer. Throwing on a great piece of denim can complete a daytime look, as well as make a bold statement.

I’ve pulled my top picks for this summer–Check out my favs below!

The Best Taco You’ll Eat All Summer is Served on a Blue Plate

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

How much are you drooling right now? I know, me too–it just looks way too delicious. Blue Plate Taco’s food doesn’t only photograph beautifully, but it’s just as scrumptious as it looks. This chic restaurant is located right across from the ocean within The Shore Hotel. It is truly a gem amidst the many restaurants that Santa Monica has to offer. I have eaten at Blue Plate Taco three times (so far) and still dream of those fish tacos. Want to try it out for yourself? Check out their website and menu HERE.
